  • NaNoWriMo- http://www.nanowrimo.org/ Come on in and join the insanity that is writing a 50,000 word novella during the month of November. This contest is responsible for the second story I ever finished. Yes, I won. I hit 51,000 words or more, I believe. Talk about liberating...

Links to people who's work I devour...

The best writers are readers and my library attests to my addiction to books. The links below are a collection of websites from authors that I rush the bookstore for when their stuff is released. I'll admit, it's an odd collection, but... I'm odd, so it kind of fits. This list is in no particular order, though I doubt any of these people will ever show up to feel slighted.

  • Robert Jordan- there are two sites for RJ that I found on the internet, sadly, neither is his own. There's Tor's official site: http://www.tor.com/jordan/ and then the site I'm more than familiar with: www.dragonmount.com. You'll see in my other links that I'm a very busy lady at DM. If that's not testament to my love of this man's work, I don't know what is. You can read RJ's blog at DM, too, so stop in and check it out. Then stay and join, we love people...

  • Johanna Lindsey- I could only find this site for Johanna Lindsey (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/l/johanna-lindsey/), which is strange considering how long she's been around. For the record, I have a copy (well worn copy, I might add) of each book listed on this site. *grins* Did I mention I love her work?

  • Laurrell K. Hamilton- http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/  I've found myself visiting the bookstore A LOT in the last six months, all because Melissa had to go and send me Guilty Pleasures as a thank you for helping her with a story she was writing. Friends share their addictions, I guess, and, like all good friends, our addictions are pretty close to the same. Every single book of LKH's that I've picked up has the words "imaginative" splattered all over it...literally. If you doubt the sincerity of that review, read the book. Your doubts will disappear and you'll be making 14 trips to the book store until you finish the Anita Blake series. Then, like me, you'll turn right around and go back for the Merry Gentry series. Trust me on this...

  • Kim Harrison- http://www.kimharrison.net/ For those that haven't visited the "Hollows..." you don't know what you're missing. The feel of the books is different than nearly anything I've ever read, but... I can't help but pick the next one up (which comes out on March 20th, according to the website...). Here's another I totally blame Melissa for.

  • Nora Roberts- http://www.noraroberts.com/ I am very sorry to say that it took me a while to jump on the ball with Nora's work. It took the Celtic series she wrote a while back to really get my attention. I've worn my bookstore membership cards out since then, however, and I recommend you do so, too.

  • Catherine Coulter- http://www.catherinecoulter.com/ I started reading Catherine Coulter's books when I was in high school, just after I started reading Johanna Lindsey. In fact, those were the first two "historical romance" books I've ever read. To say I've devoured the Sherbrooks since then is an understatement and I don't believe there's a single historical romance novel on her list that I haven't read. As amazing as she is with that genre, how can she be anything else with any other genre?

  • Kate Elliot- http://www.deepgenre.com/kateelliott.com/ This is a rather recent addition to my addiction, as I picked up the first book of her "Crown of Stars" series and couldn't get the story out of my head until I'd read them all. Since I haven't finished yet, you can imagine how much torture this is when I have to do stuff like... teach, sleep, eat, update web pages and tend to my online duties. lol, go on, pick it up, you know you want to...
